Getting Back To Whack

Psalm 119:1

“You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God.”

Back in November I hosted a Critical Incident Stress Management (CSIM) class which was the first step in the new CSIM team my church is starting. During the training we were discussing how severe stress can throw a person “out of whack” in their day to day routines. The inside “joke”, if you will, was that we help people “get back to whack”. Well, I’m trying to do just that with WWTS.

It’s been my desire to post here every 2-3 weeks, and the process of putting these posts together is one of my stress management tools. I love setting out on the adventures that I post here for you, and there something cathartic about putting them into word after it’s all done. It has been difficult lately to achieve that mission, and I guess from time time that’s life. With that in mind, it seems I’m getting back to whack.

I’ll be heading off to Mississippi for an overnighter in a few weeks, and I have a long overdue review of my ULA Ohm 2.0 pack that seems to call my name every time I log on here. There are also a few half finished drafts that beg for my attention now and again.

There’s been a lack, but I’m on track, and getting back to whack (sorry, couldn’t help myself). Stay tuned.

  1. We understand being “out of whack”. 🙂

One of my favorite sayings goes like this, “I’m so far behind that I think I’m in the lead”.

The CSIM team at your church is a wonderful idea and a hugely important ministry.

It is in helping others that we help ourselves. We are made for service and created in His image.

    Hebrews 2:17

“Therefore he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make expiation for the sins of the people”.

Finding the trail-head was a test of faith. I listened only to myself and found nothing. The distance from my goal grew exponentially. Only when I let go and considered someone else instead of myself did God grant me the gift of achieving my goal. 😉

    I will “stay tuned”.

    .

    • I love that saying, I think I might “borrow” it 😉 .

“We are made for service and created in His image” (fearfully ans wonderfully made) as a way of honoring God, and I consider it a privilege to be able to serve in any capacity. The good news is God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called 🙂

  2. Where abouts in Mississippi are you going? We have the Black Creek trail and the Tuxachanie trail in the south end of the state.-Barry in MS.

    • Hi Barry! We had discussed the Black Creek trail, but my understanding is there are still some accessibilty and/or trail maintenance issues? Anyhow we’re hitting a portion of the Natchez Trace trail. Never been to either so no matter what it will be any adventure 🙂

BTW< the Tuxachanie trail sounds interesting as well. Might have to make multiple visits 😀

  3. And then there were two

    Matthew 17:4

Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”.

Our “Lazarus” is a tent builder also and this weekend he just can’t “hang” with us. 😉

The most carefully laid out plans of men never seem to take into account what is in God’s plan for us.

God never gives us any challenge in our lives that He does not give us the grace to overcome. Good luck, bad luck who knows which it is when things happen to “foil” our plans.

We’ll let God show us His plan for the weekend. He knows what He has in store for us.

Maybe we’ll get our “whack” back. 😀
