A Call To Arms

Ephesians 6:12
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

I’m posting today to ask my readers to keep me and my family in prayer. I’ve heard it said that you can tell how effective your walk is by whether or not you’re under attack. For a while now the enemy has been very comfortable with my walk, much to my shame. I’ve been struggling with some issues and I guess he spotted my resolve and maybe decided to attack before victory could be had. I received news today that rocked my world, robbing me of something very precious to me. I’m sorry if I’m being cryptic, but giving out details now will only cause more harm than good.

If there is any good news in this, it’s that the enemy has already lost. While I’m in pain, I will overcome because as Philippians 4:13 says; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  My resolve to finish well has only been further set – my course will be straight, my focus sharp. As the line in the worship song at church today said, “my hope is in the Lord”. I will put on the armor of God every day, and if I don’t finish with a few dents and dings then I didn’t live this Christian life to the fullest.

  1. ” I received news today that rocked my world, robbing me of something very precious to me”.

God never gives us anything more to do than we can handle. The key to being able to handle anything is as you already quoted….

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

I have all the details that I need to do what it is that I do when someone is in need. Be aware that your “loss / need” will be in our prayers. If you need anything else that we can do for you, you know how to contact me.

  2. Good Morning George,

This is something very nice to hear every now and then. So I thought that I would post it here to share it with everyone.

One night I had a dream–
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints,
one belonged to me and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.
This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way,
but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
“I don’t understand why in times when I needed you most,
    you should leave me.”
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never, never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
“When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”

    …Mary Stevenson

Whether or not you see 1 set or 2 sets of footprints what is most important is that you walk with the Lord!

  3. Good Morning George,

“I’ve heard it said that you can tell how effective your walk is by whether or not you’re under attack. For a while now the enemy has been very comfortable with my walk, much to my shame”.

Make no mistake about it as soon as you are inspired to do something good for others, especially something like this website, Satan starts planning to put an end to it. It is called spiritual warfare!

    Persevere!

Romans 5:3-5: More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.

Funny thing about writing this reply, It has served to help me personally “walk on” and persevere. When I first decided to write this reply it was intended to encourage you. Isn’t it wonderful how doing something unselfishly for others can result in the one “doing” being blessed!

    Have a blessed day.

    • Thanks John! My pastor has a 10 step plan for when you’re feeling down; step one is to help someone who is worse off than you, and then for steps two through ten repeat step one :). The Lord says that we should store up our treasure in heaven, and I firmly believe that anytime you can help a fellow human being you are storing up that heavenly treasure. I’m glad that you were blessed, as you have been a great encouragement to me. Your prayers, thoughts, and picture (I got it, maybe in a future commentary), as well as the prayers and thoughts of everyone have been a constant blessing and reminder that I’m not alone in my struggles. God bless you all!

PS I’ve been a character my whole life, which is a testimony to my wife’s endurance :)!
